Lakefront rentals in Miami are inland, in the planned communities the MLS files under the city: The Hammocks, built around lakes along Hammocks Boulevard, with sections such as Jasmine, Heron and Banyan Tree; Fontainebleau, where condo communities such as Windsong Lakes, Indian Lake Village and The Fountains at Fontainebleau surround lakes; and the gated lake communities of Kendall. A lake lot is the premium position in these communities, with no rear neighbor and no saltwater to maintain. Most lease annually to families, and the association approves you as well as the owner. Ask whether the lake has a fountain or aerator and who mows to the water line, and check that the lanai screens are intact, since mosquitoes are part of lake living in Miami.
