Your next move in Pahokee deserves a better strategy: buy, sell or invest with the numbers in front of you.

Living in Pahokee
Pahokee is the Glades city on the east shore of Lake Okeechobee, with Belle Glade about fifteen minutes south on State Road 715 and the Martin County line a short drive north along the lake. Its name comes from a Seminole word for the Everglades, usually translated as grassy waters. East Main Street runs through the small downtown, where older commercial buildings and shops line the commercial core, and Bacom Point Road follows the lake south of it, with houses on deep lots that reach toward the dike. The Pahokee Marina and its campground sit on the lake, and the Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail, part of the Florida Trail, runs along the top of the Herbert Hoover Dike. Recent listings name Pahokee Elementary and the city's combined middle and senior high school, whose football rivalry with Glades Central in Belle Glade is followed across the Glades; confirm the school for each address with the school district. West Palm Beach is about an hour away by road, and Lakeside Medical Center in Belle Glade is the hospital that serves the Glades.
Lake Okeechobee, the Marina and the Farms
Lake Okeechobee is why many buyers look at Pahokee. The Herbert Hoover Dike separates the town from the water, but the marina gives boaters a ramp and slips on the lake, and anglers come for its bass fishing, with the season and the lake level deciding how far out a boat has to run. The dike was raised after the hurricane of 1928, when the lake broke over its banks and thousands died in Pahokee, Belle Glade and South Bay, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has reinforced it since. Behind the town, sugarcane and vegetable fields spread across the muck soil of the Everglades Agricultural Area, and the harvest from autumn into spring brings trucks to the roads and, on some days, smoke and ash from fields burned before cutting. For a buyer near the lake, the flood zone matters lot by lot: listings this autumn recorded zone AE on some parcels and zone X on others, so ask for the survey, the elevation certificate and an insurance quote before you offer.
Homes, Acreage and What These Pages Show
Pahokee houses come in two kinds. Along East Main Street, Bacom Point Road and the streets near the lake, older wood frame and concrete block homes from the thirties to the sixties sit on lots that often run from half an acre to more than an acre, with mango, avocado and citrus trees, cottages or workshops, and room for horses on several. Newer and larger houses appear on acreage, such as a house from 2006 with four bedroom suites and a pool on more than an acre on South Greenstar Avenue. Utilities differ by street: many homes use public water and sewer, while some lots near the lake rely on a septic tank and a few keep a well. The listing pages on this site show only homes priced above the site's public price threshold, and most of what sells in Pahokee is priced below it, so these pages show only a small part of the market. The market table on this page counts every listing in the MLS. Ask us for a full search to see every Pahokee home that fits your budget.
Neighborhoods
Pahokee has no neighborhood pages of its own, because its listings are spread too thinly for any subdivision to fill one, so the town is easier to read street by street. East Main Street is the spine, with the downtown commercial core and older houses on deep lots that run back toward the dike. Bacom Point Road, south of downtown, holds houses on lots of an acre or more beside the lake, several with fruit trees, outbuildings and room for horses, and some lake lots there come up as vacant land to build on. The Okeelanta Plantation plat takes in streets from Larrimore Road downtown to South Greenstar Avenue, where a larger, newer house sits on more than an acre. The MLS files most of these plats under long survey names, so street names are the practical way to search. Every listing in this autumn's census carried the city's own zoning, from single family to agricultural and commercial core, and we confirm the zoning and the jurisdiction on the tax record for every property.
Selling a Home in Pahokee
BreakThru Realty works with hundreds of prequalified buyers searching for properties. Before your Pahokee home is listed, a broker compares it with the requirements those buyers have given us, such as acreage, room for horses, a lake setting or a house near the marina, and reaches out to the ones it fits; your home may be the one a buyer is waiting to find. If no buyer on file fits, the MLS listing puts it before cooperating agents across the county and beyond, with the facts buyers ask before they drive out: the flood zone, the septic or sewer connection, any well, the roof and the permits for cottages and outbuildings. Throughout, the strategy follows your objectives: your price, your timing and the move you are making next. Pricing a Pahokee home is careful work, because few sales match closely and a lot of an acre or more is valued partly as land. Request Your Property Valuation for a first figure from matched closed sales, ask for a full comparative market analysis when you are ready to list, or request a cash offer if a fast, as is sale suits you better.
Investing in Pahokee
Investors in Pahokee buy on the long view. The usual purchase is an older house leased by the year to a family that lives and works in the Glades, and rents follow local wages, so the price paid and the cost of repairs decide the return. Downtown on Main Street, mixed use buildings with apartments and storefronts under one roof come to market, priced on their rents, their condition and what the city's commercial core zoning allows, and vacant lots near the center and beside the lake are bought to hold or to build on. A large lot with a cottage can carry a second lease where the zoning and the permits allow it. Before you offer, read every lease, confirm the permits for each unit, check the septic or sewer connection and price the insurance. Get Your Investment Property Analysis and we model the rent from current Glades leases, including those below the public threshold, and the resale from the closed sales that match the property.

Pahokee Real Estate FAQ
- Where is Pahokee, Florida?
- Pahokee is in western Palm Beach County on the east shore of Lake Okeechobee, about fifteen minutes north of Belle Glade on State Road 715 and about an hour west of West Palm Beach by road. The Herbert Hoover Dike runs along the town's lake side, the Pahokee Marina sits on the water, and sugarcane fields stretch east and south of town, with the Martin County line a short drive north.
- Why do these pages show so few Pahokee homes?
- Most Pahokee homes are priced below the threshold this site uses for its public listing pages, so only the few above it appear here. That leaves these pages with a small share of what is listed and what sells, while the market table on the page draws on every listing and sale in the MLS. For the complete set, ask us for a full search of Pahokee homes in your budget, and if you own one, request a valuation built from every matching sale.
- Can I keep a boat or fish on Lake Okeechobee from Pahokee?
- Yes, through the Pahokee Marina, which gives boaters a ramp and slips on the lake a short drive from most homes in town. Houses do not usually have their own docks on the lake, because the Herbert Hoover Dike stands between the lots and the water, although some lots on Bacom Point Road reach the foot of the dike and owners cross it on private footbridges. Ask the marina about slips and launch fees, and remember that the lake level and the season change how far a boat has to run.
- Can I keep horses in Pahokee?
- On some lots, yes, but the zoning decides. Several Pahokee listings on large lots describe themselves as horse friendly, and an estate on East Main Street is flagged as horse property in the MLS. The city's zoning sets whether animals are allowed and how many, so confirm it with the city for the exact parcel, along with the fencing, the drainage in the wet season and any shelter or barn you plan to build.
- Is Pahokee in a flood zone?
- Some parcels are and some are not, so check the map for each lot. Listings this autumn recorded zone AE, where a lender requires flood insurance, on some parcels, among them large lots that run toward the lake, and zone X on others in town. Ask for the elevation certificate, a quote that covers wind as well as flood, and the survey, and remember that the Herbert Hoover Dike protects the town without changing what a lender requires.
- What is my Pahokee home worth?
- A valuation from us begins with closed sales that genuinely match your home: a similar lot size, the same kind of construction, a comparable condition and, where it matters, the same stretch near the lake. A Pahokee lot of an acre or more is valued partly as land, and cottages, outbuildings and room for horses add to it. Because many sales close below the public threshold, we read the full MLS record. Request Your Property Valuation for a first figure, ask for a full comparative market analysis when you are ready to list, or ask for a cash offer when a fast, as is sale matters most.
- Do you already have buyers looking for homes in Pahokee?
- BreakThru Realty works with hundreds of prequalified buyers searching for properties. We keep each buyer's requirements on file: the neighborhoods, the price range, the property type and the features they are waiting for. Whether one of them fits your home is something a licensed broker checks for your property specifically, before the call. Your home may be the one a buyer is waiting to find; we confirm it before we call it a match, and a potential match is a conversation, not an offer.
