Gated rentals in Miami Beach mean the guard-gated islands and enclaves: Palm Island and Hibiscus Island off the MacArthur Causeway, La Gorce Island in Mid-Beach, the guard-gated section of Normandy Shores around its golf course, and the small guard-gated enclave of oceanfront houses in Altos del Mar. They lease as houses, usually annually and at the top of the market, with a homeowners association that registers tenants at the gatehouse and sets rules on guests, contractors and boat use. Ask whether tenants receive gate transponders and how many, and how deliveries and ride shares are handled, since the gate decides how convenient island life is. Expect the association's approval to take weeks on top of the owner's in Miami Beach.
