Sunshine Ranches is the town's signature estate area between Griffin Road and Sheridan Street, platted long ago as Everglades Sugar & Land Company tracts, which is why that name appears in the legal description of many listings. Lots are mostly two and a half acres and larger, zoned for horses with no homeowners' association, and the homes range from 1960s and 1970s ranch houses bought for the land to new and rebuilt estates with guest houses, stables, gated drives and ponds along SW 136th Avenue, known locally as Holatee Trail, and the streets off it.
