Condos for rent in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea are the bulk of the town's rental market: older buildings a block or two from the ocean, Gardens by the Sea and Gardens by the Sea South across the street from the beach with private beach access, the Sea Ranch Club towers and the newer boutique buildings of Villas by the Sea on the sand. Some of the older buildings are co-operatives rather than condominiums, and their boards can be stricter and slower to approve. Each association in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea decides the minimum lease term, the number of leases per year and whether pets are allowed, so two identical units on the same street can have opposite rules.
