Canal homes in Ocean Ridge are on the island's north half, at Inlet Cay beside the Boynton Inlet and on Sabal Island and McCormick Mile just south of it, with a few more on the short canal at the end of Anna Street. The canals are narrow, most under eighty feet across, but deep, and houses on them carry seawalls, docks and lifts for boats of a size that surprises first-time visitors. Most were built in the sixties and seventies and have been renovated or replaced, and several carry a private path to the beach as well.
